Birganj (Nepali: वीरगञ्ज) is a cosmopolitan city in Parsa Region in Madhes Pradesh of southern Nepal. It is situated 135 km (84 mi) south of the capital Kathmandu, joined in the north to Raxaul in the boundary of the Indian state of Bihar. Being the entrance point to Nepal from Patna, Birgunj is called the “Gateway of Nepal”. On the other hand it is also known as the “Commercial capital of Nepal”.
